At work with AISHE

Today I am working with the All Ireland Society for Higher Education, this morning running a workshop on my M-level assessment project (the slides for which are here) AISHE Event (618 downloads) , and here is some handout materials associated with this session –  the instrument for reviewing assessment   Masters level workbook (688 downloads) .
This afternoon I am working  in my capacity as an international  member of the editorial panel of the AISHE Journal.  I am really enjoying working so much in Ireland at the moment and seeing so much good practice.

Talking about Assessment at Teesside

Today I was working with colleagues at Teesside University looking at how best the HEA ‘A marked improvement’ project can enhance the work Teesside staff are doing to ensure that assessment supports students learning. The slides I used are here, together with many more slides I didn’t use in the event. Teesside (685 downloads) .

After that I went up to Sunderland University to meet John Sweet and Alastair Irons to discuss in a triad our annual SEDA CPD reflections which are a requirement for us to remain in good standing as SEDA Senior Fellows. The joint reflection process was, as always, an interesting and purposeful conversation.

‘A marked improvement’ project forum at Birkbeck

Today I’ve been contributing to a core forum for the national HEA project on improving assessment locally and strategically. It’s been great working with colleagues from Teesside, Keele, Edinburgh, Roehampton, Birkbeck, Liverpool, Southampton  and Bucks New Universities.
I’m learning a lot from hearing about how the review and change management tool is being used across the sector.

Perfect weather in Plymouth

Today I’m back in Plymouth with Phil, as part of the curriculum refreshment project, doing two workshops on ‘Academic Induction’ and ‘Planning and delivering short, fat modules’. Tomorrow I will be in London at the QAA, for the final steering group meeting for the UK Quality Code for Higher Education, on ‘Assessment of students and the recognition of prior learning’, where we expect to sign off this element of the Code of Practice.

Discussions on eAssessment at Dundee

Today Phil and I  are at the excellently organised Scotland eAssessment Conference at Dundee.
